Massive Flood in Nigeria Claims Over 150 Lives (Videos 1–2)
Heavy rains in Nigeria caused the Niger River to overflow, flooding the city of Mokwa. Around 3,000 homes ended up underwater. The death toll has exceeded 150, and the number may rise as many people are still missing.
Hamas Responds to U.S. Proposal for Gaza Ceasefire
Hamas has delivered its response to mediators regarding the U.S. conflict resolution plan in Gaza. The initiative includes a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave, and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. As part of the agreement, Hamas promises to release 10 more hostages and return the bodies of 18 deceased. In return, a pre-agreed number of Palestinian prisoners is expected to be released.
PSG Wins UEFA Champions League; Riots Break Out in France During Celebrations
On Saturday, May 31, the UEFA Champions League final took place, where French club PSG defeated Italian side Inter with a score of 5–0. This is PSG’s first ever Champions League title.
During fan celebrations in France, massive riots erupted. Several cars were set on fire, leading to explosions, and in Grenoble, a car drove into pedestrians. Four people were injured, three of them critically. Police arrested over 300 individuals.
Railway Damage in Russia – Local Authorities Report Explosion, Casualties (Video 3)
The governor of Russia’s Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, reported that a bridge was blown up overnight on Saturday as a passenger train from Klimovo to Moscow carrying 388 passengers was passing. Seven people were killed and 47 injured.
Russian Railways (RZD) reported another incident Sunday morning where a bridge collapsed under a freight train. The locomotive fell onto the road, injuring the driver.
Later, Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate claimed responsibility for derailing a freight train on the temporarily occupied territory near Melitopol, causing tanker cars and freight wagons to crash.
Initially, Russia’s Investigative Committee reported explosions on bridges but later edited the statement to say the structures were simply “damaged.”
Russian Missile Strike on Ukrainian Training Center – 12 Dead
More than 60 people were also injured. The Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that most of the personnel were in shelter during the attack.
Ukraine Attacks Russian Military Airfields (Videos 4–9)
In Olenegorsk, Murmansk region, drones targeted an airfield that houses strategic bombers. Footage from residents and drone cameras appeared online. Eyewitnesses say the drones were launched from a truck at a gas station.
Another drone strike was reported in Irkutsk region.
Later media reports confirmed that four airfields were attacked: Dyagilevo (Ryazan region), Olenya (Murmansk), Ivanovo (Ivanovo region), and Belaya (Irkutsk region).
Reports also emerged of truck explosions, presumably transporting drones for military strikes.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense officially confirmed that Ukrainian drones targeted airfields in five regions, including Amur. According to the ministry, there were no military or civilian casualties, though several aircraft were damaged.
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) confirmed responsibility for the operation, noting that it was prepared in stages. Drones were first smuggled into Russia, followed by wooden mobile cabins hidden in trucks. Drones were concealed under cabin roofs, which opened remotely to launch the UAVs.
Ukraine reported about 40 units of damaged equipment. Russia’s Ministry of Defense acknowledged only “a few.” Independent monitoring channels, analyzing open-source data, confirmed the destruction of 5–8 aircraft.
Russian and Ukrainian Delegations Depart for Istanbul
A new round of peace negotiations is scheduled for June 2 in Turkey. The parties are expected to exchange memorandums and discuss next steps.
