Russia Initiates UN Security Council Meeting
Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, stated that the meeting is being convened due to the actions of certain European countries that could hinder the peaceful resolution of the war with Ukraine. The meeting is expected to take place on May 30.
Berlin Clarifies Merz’s Statement on Ukraine Using German Missiles for Long-Range Strikes
German Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil noted that Berlin has not changed previously established agreements regarding the range of missiles supplied to Ukraine.
Later, Chancellor Friedrich Merz clarified his remarks, stating that Kyiv may use the weapons it receives, including outside its own borders. He said that this decision had been agreed upon with allies several months ago.
Russian Foreign Ministry Outlines Contents of Its Memorandum on Ukraine
According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the document will include principles and timelines for a peaceful resolution as well as conditions for a ceasefire. The ministry added that the memorandum is still being developed, and once completed, it will be sent to Kyiv.
Turkish Foreign Minister Visits Moscow, Plans Trip to Kyiv
According to media reports, Hakan Fidan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss recent initiatives aimed at ending the war with Ukraine and developments following the Istanbul negotiations. The Turkish foreign minister is expected to travel to Kyiv to discuss the outcomes of the talks.
Inauguration of Nicușor Dan Marred by Incidents – Video
During the ceremony, some lawmakers turned their backs on the newly elected leader, while the “Alliance for the Union of Romanians” party announced a boycott of the event altogether.
Nicușor Dan himself was also involved in controversy after personally greeting members of the Constitutional Court, a rabbi, and a Catholic bishop — while pointedly ignoring Romanian Orthodox Church leader Daniel. These moments were captured on video (1-2) by journalists.

The American politician noted that this figure surpasses U.S. losses in World War II. He once again voiced support for former President Donald Trump’s initiative to resolve the conflict.
Kellogg also said that Washington has received a list of Ukraine’s conditions for a peace agreement. According to him, the next round of Russia-Ukraine negotiations may be held in Geneva.
He also revealed that the U.S. has its own 22-point peace plan — a plan disliked by both Moscow and Kyiv.
