According to witnesses, the event was wrapping up and workers had already removed barriers that had turned the road into a pedestrian zone
Eight people were killed and six others injured after an Audi SUV drove into a crowd during a Filipino diaspora festival in Vancouver, Canada. This was reported by WNTab on Sunday, April 27, citing local media.
The tragedy occurred around 8 p.m. local time, during celebrations of Lapu-Lapu Day — honoring the 16th-century island anti-colonial leader. According to eyewitnesses, the festival was nearing its end, and workers had begun dismantling barriers that had separated part of the roadway, turning it into a pedestrian zone.
At that moment, the SUV sped into the crowd at high speed. Witnesses claim the vehicle was traveling at approximately 100 km/h (about 62 mph). After the vehicle came to a stop, the driver attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by bystanders.
Preliminary reports identify the perpetrator as a 30-year-old Vancouver resident.
Earlier, WNTab reported that four border guards were killed in a terrorist attack in southwestern Pakistan.
