Explosion in Southern Iran’s Port Kills Four, Injures Over 500

Explosion

The tragedy occurred shortly after the start of the third round of Iran-US nuclear talks

An explosion occurred on Saturday at Shahid Rajaee Port in the city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran, killing at least four people and injuring more than 500. This was reported by WNTab, citing Tehran Times.

According to the local crisis management service, the explosion was caused by the detonation of several containers stored within the port area. The operation of the logistics hub was halted to extinguish the fire.

Given the large number of workers at the port, officials do not rule out that the number of injured or dead could be even higher.

According to media reports, windows were shattered in buildings located several kilometers from the site of the explosion.

Notably, the tragedy occurred shortly after the third round of negotiations between Iran and the United States over Tehran’s nuclear program began in Oman.

Earlier, WNTab reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian outlined the conditions for reaching an agreement with the U.S. regarding the nuclear program.
