Pakistan Opens Fire Along Line of Control, India Responds

The incident occurred just hours before the Indian Army Chief’s visit to the region

On Friday, April 25, Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir state. This was reported by WNTab on Friday, April 25, citing The Hindustan Times.

According to journalists referencing an unnamed source, several incidents involving the use of firearms were recorded. Indian Army personnel returned fire in response. Further details of the incidents are still being clarified.

As reported by the media, the escalation took place just hours before Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi was set to arrive in the region. He plans to discuss the situation in the Kashmir Valley with senior officials from the army and other security agencies.

Tensions between the two countries have escalated following a terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 26 people. New Delhi has accused Islamabad of being involved in the attack, while Pakistan has denied the allegations.

In addition to previously implemented measures, India has blocked the flow of the Indus River, suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan responded by stating that such a move would be considered an «act of war».
