Among the dead are two foreign nationals
At least 26 people were killed after unknown gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists in the Indian-controlled part of Kashmir. This was reported by WNTab on Wednesday, April 23, citing local media.
The terrorist attack occurred near the town of Pahalgam in the Baisaran Valley on Tuesday, April 22. According to police, among the victims were two foreign nationals — citizens of Nepal and the UAE. Two other victims were local residents. The remaining casualties were tourists from various regions of India.
Baisaran Valley, often referred to as the “Indian Switzerland,” is a popular destination featured in Bollywood films and known for its picturesque excursions. The area can only be accessed on foot or horseback.
However, the region — where the majority of the population is Muslim — remains disputed territory, also claimed by neighboring Pakistan.
The group “Resistance of Kashmir” has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group had previously threatened violence against “outsiders who have illegally settled in the region.” Local authorities have stated that the number of casualties is still being verified. According to police, there were two or three attackers.

Sporadic attacks on tourists in Kashmir have occurred since 1989 following an anti-India uprising, though such incidents have become less frequent in recent years.
Earlier, WNTab reported that over 100 people were killed during a religious festival in India.
