The head of state added that Tehran does not seek conflict but will resist any attempts at coercion
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country is open to reaching agreements with the United States, provided that Iran’s national interests are preserved. This was reported by WNTab on Tuesday, April 22, citing the Xinhua news agency.
Masoud Pezeshkian:
«In negotiations with the United States, we are ready for an agreement within certain frameworks and with the preservation of our national interests. However, if they refrain from engaging with us on equal terms, we will continue on our own path».
The Iranian president added that Tehran does not seek conflict but will resist any attempts at coercion, pressure, or bullying.
Pezeshkian’s comments came following the second round of talks between the U.S. and Iran, held with Oman’s mediation in Rome, the capital of Italy. The third round of dialogue is expected to take place this Saturday in Muscat, Oman.
Previously, Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran’s main demand in the negotiations is the lifting of U.S. sanctions.
The countries are negotiating over restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, which Washington believes would prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. U.S. President Donald Trump recently described the talks as “very good.”
Earlier, WNTab reported that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a missile strike in Iran after arriving to attend the inauguration of Masoud Pezeshkian.
