Moscow assures it will halt all hostilities if Kyiv takes similar steps
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has ordered Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov to cease hostilities on the territory of Ukraine from 6:00 PM on April 19 until midnight on April 21. This was reported by WNTab on Saturday, April 19, citing a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Vladimir Putin:
«Guided by humanitarian considerations, today from 6:00 PM until midnight from Sunday to Monday, the Russian side declares an Easter truce. I order all combat operations to be halted during this period. We assume that the Ukrainian side will follow our example».
At the same time, Putin instructed the troops to be ready to respond in case of aggressive actions by the Ukrainian army.
Thus, the proposed ceasefire is expected to last a total of 30 hours.
Earlier, WNTab reported that U.S. President Donald Trump had expressed his country’s readiness to withdraw from peace negotiations if Ukraine or Russia complicates the process.
