The Socialist Party of Moldova Refuses to Recognize Official Results
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Moldova has announced the victory of incumbent President Maia Sandu in the country’s recent presidential election. This was reported by WNTab on Monday, November 4, citing local CEC data.
According to the CEC, Sandu received 55.33% of the votes, while her opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, garnered 44.67%.
However, the Socialist Party of Moldova, which nominated Stoianoglo, has already declared its refusal to recognize the election results. The issue lies in the fact that, within Moldova, Stoianoglo received more votes – 51.19% compared to Sandu’s 48.81%. The incumbent president’s victory was secured by the Moldovan diaspora, as votes from overseas polling stations provided Sandu with additional support.
Previously, WNTab reported that in Georgia’s parliamentary elections, the ruling party emerged victorious.
