US Presidential Election 2024: Trump and Harris Hold First Debate – Key Moments

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris

According to CNN viewers, Harris emerged victorious in the debate

United States presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris held their first televised debate. This was reported by WNTab on Wednesday, September 11.

The Democratic Party representative accused her opponent of “selling” the country to China, as well as leaving its healthcare and economy in a dire state. Harris also claimed that if Trump is elected President of the United States, he would “surrender Ukraine within 24 hours,” which would then pose a security threat to Europe.

The Democratic candidate asserts that Donald Trump would ban abortions at the federal level.

In response, Donald Trump blamed the Biden-Harris administration for fostering inflation, the influx of illegal immigrants, and rising crime rates. He also criticized the current government for being unable to negotiate with Russia. Trump added that he knows both Zelensky and Putin well, and that they, in turn, respect him. When asked whether Kyiv’s victory in the war aligns with US interests, the politician noted: “It is in our interest to reach an agreement and end the war.”

According to a CNN poll, 63% of viewers believe Kamala Harris won the debate. However, many commentators noted the biased attitude of the political show’s moderators toward Donald Trump. The Republican himself commented on this briefly as usual: “Today, it was three against one.”

Popular singer Taylor Swift supported Harris on her social media, accusing Trump of using artificial intelligence to generate photos in which she allegedly supports the politician. Another musician, Johnny King, accused Kamala Harris of cheating. He pointed out that she used earrings that were actually wireless earbuds and made recordings during the debate, which was prohibited by the rules. Elon Musk acknowledged the Democratic candidate’s strong performance but believes that when it comes to real actions, Trump is more capable of executing them.

Previously, WNTab reported that the campaign teams of Donald Trump and Kamala Harris agreed on the debate rules.

It is worth noting that in the debate with Joe Biden, Donald Trump was, in the opinion of viewers, much more convincing than his opponent.

Shortly afterward, Biden withdrew from the presidential race, nominating Kamala Harris as his replacement.
