Opening Ceremony Olympics 2024

The ceremony was held outside a stadium for the first time and was notable for the participation of representatives from the LGBT+ community

The official opening ceremony of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games took place yesterday in the French capital, Paris. This was reported by WNTab on Saturday, July 27.

The spectacular event was held outside the city’s main stadium for the first time. Participants sailed along the Seine and also staged a grand show on the streets of the French capital.

The event featured famous artists, top French officials, and prominent athletes from both the present and the past. The final song, “Hymne à l’amour,” was performed by Celine Dion.

Meanwhile, the participation of LGBT+ community representatives in the opening ceremony, who recreated a scene from Leonardo da Vinci’s monumental painting “The Last Supper,” sparked lively discussions online, with some viewing it as an offense to Christianity.

The Olympic flame, breaking from tradition, was carried on a hot air balloon.

The ceremony was not without its mishaps. Notably, the organizers incorrectly hoisted the Olympic movement’s flag.
