Ukrainian president calls for at least a 30-day halt to hostilities

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has responded to Russia’s unilateral ceasefire announcement by proposing that a ceasefire be implemented immediately, without waiting for symbolic dates. This was reported by WNTab on Tuesday, April 29, citing the president’s video address.

Volodymyr Zelensky:

“We believe there is no reason to wait until May 8. The fighting must stop—not just for a few days before resuming the killing. We need an immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire—lasting for at least 30 days.”

The Ukrainian president said Russia’s proposal is a manipulation, suggesting such moves are merely an excuse to celebrate holidays in peace.

Earlier, WNTab reported that the Russian Federation proposed a three-day ceasefire from May 8 to May 10 inclusive.
