Major Power Outage

Full restoration of electricity could take up to a week

A massive failure in the power grid caused widespread blackouts across entire regions in several Western European countries. This was reported by WNTab on Monday, April 28, citing local media sources.

The Portuguese power grid operator stated that the large-scale outage was caused by a “rare atmospheric phenomenon” over Spain.

As a result of the incident, power outages were reported in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Pamplona, and Valencia. Blackouts also affected areas in Portugal, Andorra, and France. In several Spanish cities, telephone networks and metro systems stopped functioning, and Madrid’s airport was left without electricity.

Restoration efforts have already begun in the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula. According to energy experts, it could take up to a week to fully restore power.

Earlier, WNTab reported that the Spanish government allocated €10.6 billion to those affected by major flooding.
