Pyongyang says the deployment took place under a mutual defense agreement

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) has published an official statement confirming the involvement of the North Korean army in Russia’s war against Ukraine. This was reported by WNTab on Monday, April 28, citing information from Yonhap News Agency.

According to the statement, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally ordered the deployment of troops to the Kursk region. It is noted that the military was deployed in accordance with a mutual defense agreement between Moscow and Pyongyang.

The agency reported that “operations to liberate the Kursk region were successfully completed.”

The treaty between Russia and North Korea was signed in June 2024. By October, South Korean intelligence had already reported that Pyongyang had sent up to 3,000 troops to participate in combat operations. It was noted that the troop deployment took place in Russia’s eastern Kursk region.

Earlier, WNTab reported that experts had decoded the content of a conversation between Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Emmanuel Macron at the Vatican.

Before that, the U.S. president stated that Kyiv and Moscow were close to reaching agreements to resolve the conflict.
