Pope Francis Passes Away at 88 in the Vatican

Pope Francis

Recently, the pontiff had suffered from bilateral pneumonia but took part in the Easter ceremony

Pope Francis (born Jorge Mario Bergoglio) died at the age of 88 on April 21 in his Vatican residence at the Domus Sanctae Marthae. This was reported by WNTab on Monday, April 21, citing a statement from Cardinal Kevin Farrell.

Kevin Farrell:

«This morning at 7:35, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned home to the Father. His entire life was devoted to serving the Lord and His Church».

It is worth noting that the pontiff had recently experienced bilateral pneumonia but reportedly began to recover. On Easter, April 20, he appeared before the faithful in St. Peter’s Square and, after giving his blessings, toured the area in the popemobile to bless infants. The day before, Francis also held a brief meeting with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

Argentine bishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio was elected head of the Holy See on March 13, 2013. He is remembered for upholding traditional views on abortion and euthanasia, while softening the Vatican’s stance on homosexuality. He preached mercy and compassion for the poor, though he faced criticism for not taking a more active role in matters of social justice.
