Radiation Levels in the Region Remain Within Normal Limits
Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, which controls the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, have extinguished a fire at one of the plant’s cooling towers. This was reported by WNTab on Monday, August 12.
Both Ukrainian and Russian official sources state that the fire did not lead to an increase in radiation levels, which remain within normal limits.
However, each side blames the other for actions that led to the fire. According to Kyiv, Russian military personnel set fire to a large number of car tires inside the cooling tower. The Russians claim that the fire started after a drone launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the cooling facility.
The IAEA reported that their experts witnessed black smoke rising the previous evening, which appeared after multiple explosions.
Earlier, WNTab reported that Ukrainian forces claimed control over the town of Sudzha in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
