Municipal workers and law enforcement are also dismantling tent camps
Ahead of the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games, which are set to begin on July 26 in Paris, the authorities of the French capital are removing people who do not have permanent residences from the city. This was reported by WNTab on Saturday, July 20, citing the publication Bild.
According to the publication, not only homeless people but also drug addicts and illegal immigrants are being removed from the city – all those who might spoil the impression of the Games. At the same time, municipal workers and police are demolishing the tent camps where these people lived.
According to the human rights organization Le Revers de la Médaille, since 2023, more than 12,500 people have been transported by buses to other regions (mainly Bordeaux and Brittany). The city is also closing down establishments that provided food to the poor or offered them shelter for the night.
